Introduction

The EuroMELEC project is an Erasmus+ project, funded by the European Commission.

Its first version, which took place between 2020 and 2023, implied 5 vocational schools from 5 different EU countries: Sweden, Portugal, Germany, Slovenia and France.

In each school, students and teachers from electricity departments, were engaged at all stages of the project, from the design to the promotion, from the activities carried out at local level to the ones done abroad.

The project is an outstanding opportunity to create bridges between countries, between generations, between professionals of different countries.

Project rationale

The European labour market is constantly evolving.

Young people arriving on this labour market must be adaptable. They must have real professional skills and be autonomous. Above all, they must be open-minded.

On the other side, in our schools, especially in the vocational departments, young people are often coming from the lower or middle socio-professional categories. In their everyday life, they are often facing situations that are a real brake for their educational success.

That’s why, it’s the role of our School to provide them the opportunity to reach the EU labour market with abilities & skills that match with their needs, whatever their background is.

Project objectives

The EuroMELEC project aims at creating a European community of electricity learners and teachers with the view to share, nurture and improve the electricity trainings across Europe.

Along the project, students and teachers work together, online or during mobilities. They exchange (mostly in English), create and live activities together.

students improve their professional skills as well as their cross-cutting or social skills. They develop their EU citizenship, their language and communication skills and learn from each other. Above all, they enhance their open-mindedness, a key competence in nowadays labour market. Thanks to the project, they are more motivated, ambitious and all of this lead to an increased employability.

Teachers also largely benefit from the project. They share knowledges and specificities and learn from others practices. They teach parts of their subject in English. They open their mind and create a real EU-network of electricity teachers.

The project also contains a real-scale test of the ECVET system. Our curricula are divided in subjects and skills, so the professionnal activities done by the students abroad are assessed and recognized for their final assessment in their own country, that’s the ECVET system.

The EuroMELEC project gives a European scope to the students learnings and to the teachers teachings.

The first version of the project (2020-2023) has been an exhilirating experience for all of us and we definitely want to go further by giving a future to this project. But all of this coudn't be done and wouldn't be so amazing to live without a real team-spirit between participants, both students and teachers.

As an African proverb says: « If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together! »

We definitely want to go far… and take our students further!
